The first thing I feel when I wake up this morning is the warm sun on my face. I roll over in bed and cuddle with my girlfriend…only to feel an empty bed next to me.
“Really?” I whisper to myself as I realize that she’s in her office. On a Sunday morning! I’ve been asking her so many times not to go work on Sunday mornings as I’d like to spend them in bed! What is so hard to understand in that? Our bedroom begins to darken as storm clouds move in. Struck with fear at what I’m slowly doing, I close my eyes and take a few, deep calming breaths. I fill my mind with nothing but positive thoughts and then I open one eye to peak outside. Luckily, the dark clouds are all that there is, I’ve stopped a storm from brewing. I sit up in bed and watch the dark clouds move away and the sun return, a few rays peeking through our blinds and caressing my face. I decide to make the best of a bad situation.
I work my way around the kitchen, making a breakfast feast for myself, Karyn and the guests staying over as I would usually do on weekends. I dance around the counter to the music of my iPod, humming happily to myself. As always, I prepare a great variety of options like eggs, pancakes, bacon, ham and much more. Coffee’s brewing and so is the tea. I quickly set the table for the guests before making a tray to bring to Karyn in her office. Yes, it’s a hectic life here but I love it. I send out a mass email to let all of the guests know that their meal is ready and I take the tray up to Karyn. I gently knock on the office door and walk in. Karyn is sitting at her desk, reading an email with her glasses on the tip of her nose. They probably slid there when she was reading and she didn’t think to push them up again. I notice the cup of tea next to her right hand; it’s probably gone cold by now. Behind her, the dark curtains were closed, which meant the room was pretty much in darkness.
“Hi sweetie, I brought you some breakfast.” She looks up at me and smiles.
“Thank you.” I put the tray on the desk and round it to pull open the curtains.
“You really need to keep these opened! Your office is so beautiful, this natural light will make it better…and give you energy since you’re cooped up in here all the darn time.” I walk around the desk again and grab my cup of tea from her tray.
“What was the email about? You seemed very into it.” I ask as I sit cross legged with skill.
