personality:

Darcy comes across as strong and determined to do whatever it takes to help people. She is extremely loyal and protective of those she considers friends. Despite having a confident exterior, she is terrified of hurting people with her ability and tries not to use it unless cornered. An example of this is when she was twelve she trained her best friend, a human boy named Mitch, how to resist her ability to manipulate him. He remains to this day the one person who cannot be swayed by her voice, not that she’s seen him since she ran away from home at fifteen.
As a young girl she had a bright and bubbly personality. She loved color, dresses, and was happy to the point of seeming fake to some people. After she ran away Darcy now prefers to wear clothing that blends in, favoring pale t-shirts, skinny jeans, and high heels or boots. She took a leather jacket from Mitch as part of her disguise and still wears it when she is feeling nostalgic. She is also reserved until trust is earned, and then you see glimpses of her bubbly personality.

Darcy is part of a long line of women with a strong ability to manipulate people with her voice. When her mother Ava was fifteen she was matched up to a Mimic fifteen years older than her and forced into an arranged conception. When it became clear that Darcy had both abilities there were several possibilities lined up for her when her time came. One of which was her biological father. Darcy’s mom was afraid for her and told her the truth about her conception, taking her place in disguise the night Darcy was supposed to go to her father. Her mother survived the encounter, but was almost kicked out for her part of the deception. She refuses to leave the clan, which is more like a cult.
Darcy’s best friend Mitch helped her get away, giving her his clothes and his car. She left the car at a bus station and hitched her way across the country, calling him once to let him know she was safe. She established a new identity for herself, borrowing a new last name and creating several backups. She has never looked back.
When Darcy was nineteen she wound up working with a group of con artists. The leader was impressed with her ability and found out as much as possible about it, using his knowledge to blackmail her into working with him in exchange for his silence about her in his dealings with the Cabal. She continued to work for him until she was twenty five. A Con went wrong and the leader wanted to tie up loose ends by killing two people. He left Darcy to do it and instead of killing them, she used her ability to get them to go into hiding. The leader of the gang found out and tried to kill Darcy. She managed to use her ability to talk him out of it and ran away. Unfortunately, because of his exposure, he had built up a tolerance for her voice and was able to break through her suggestion not to long after she hightailed it out of there. hello! my name is Em! and I'm excited to be here. This is my First experience roleplaying. My time zone is MTS. and that's all you need to know about me! oh, and this is what an average post for me looks like:

Darcy had been walking past the shop window for the past week. Inside, set up on a black satin display, were a pair of Christian Louboutin Bianca merlot heels in her size. Completely impractical. They cost almost as much as the rent on her tiny little flat. But then again, when were shoes like that supposed to be practical? In the reflection of the glass she could see a man in a business suit on his cell phone. He was gesturing wildly and angrily searching his pockets for what she could only assume was his wallet. That same wallet was tucked into her jacket pocket. He wouldn’t remember giving it to her, nor would he remember or understand why he was on the phone with the police station, turning himself in for theft and fraud.
Taking one last glance at the shoes in the window, Darcy turned on her heel and made her way to the meeting place that she had established with her client. What the abnormal did with the wallet was none of her business. All that mattered was that the man would not be able to shake down the abnormal and his family for hush money any time in the near future.
She rounded the corner and stepped into the tiny pre-determined tea shop. She sat down and placed her order, taking out the wallet and wiping it down for her prints before setting it in the middle of the table. She was halfway through her cup when her client dropped down into the seat across from her.
“Did it work?” he asked. His voice was hoarse and his hands were shaking.
“He won’t be bothering you ever again. He turned himself in.” She took another sip of her tea and set the cup back down. “Now there is only one last thing I need you to do.”
“Seriously?” His hands clenched on the table top and Darcy quickly reached forward and put her hand on his.
“I’m not asking you for more money or anything like that.”
He looked up into her eyes with trepidation.
“I want you to take this wallet and use the money to get your family somewhere safe. Don’t use the cards. Just because we cut off an hand of the beast, it doesn’t mean that the head won’t try to find out how its went missing.” What she had to do next didn’t sit well in her stomach, but if she didn’t, there was no guarantee this job wouldn’t come back to bite her in the ass. Darcy swallowed and took a deep breath.
“I’m also going to need you to forget you ever saw my face. You’ve never heard my voice, and the only way we have ever communicated is through an email address that now kicks back a non-deliverable reply.” The abnormal’s eyebrows pinched together and he looked down at his hands on the table. “You’re going to leave now, but take care of yourself.”
The man nodded and stood up. Darcy watched him walk out of the shop and wrapped her hands around the cup in front of her. She had done the right thing, but it still didn’t sit well, especially when the leader of the ring was still out there.
