Joseph is the time of person who couldn’t care less what others thought about him. Having spent most of his life on the popular side of the line he has an extremely inflated opinion about himself. Whenever someone has a bad thing to say about him he can get very angry very quickly because no matter what the situation he is always right. He is obsessed with exercise and finds anyone who doesn’t get out on a regular basis pathetic and makes sure to let them know it as well. Wanted to become a pro surfer but an inability to pass drug tests meant he was unable to get near the tour.
His obsession with money overpowers his entire life, although it lead him into his current job he has difficultly in controlling himself. His only desire is to become as rich as possible as quickly as possible and it has led him into organise crime, using his abilities for mobsters for a high price. He is more than willing to risk his life for people as long as there is a high price attached. He is motivated by money and this has forced him to distance himself from people as they do not understand.
He is extremely shallow and will never be interested in a girl for her personality. He loves walking into a room and allowing all the girls to come up to him, it inflates his sense of importance.

Joseph grew up in a house where the word No was never used. Being the son of a Politian meant that whatever Joseph asked for het got. But for a boy who had everything it never felt like it was enough, Joseph was constantly looking for ways to increase his wealth even from an early age. His world changed when he was 15 when his mother was killed in a car accident and any chance Joseph had of growing up into a normal young man was gone forever. From that point on Joseph only cared about himself and made sure that whatever he did was in his best interests.
In High school Joseph was popular, he oozed confidence and his love of sport made all the girls attracted to him. On the outside for them at least Joseph seemed like the perfect guy but his relationships never lasted as he was always looking for something more appealing. Joseph always made sure he was the one to break up with a girl; he took a sadistic pleasure in looking at their face when he was the one to end things.
He fell into accounting by accident, he didn’t need to work but his father forced him to choose a profession that wouldn’t embarrass him in parliament so after reading about the amount of money he would be dealing with on a daily basis Joseph decided to become an accountant. He realised quickly that he didn’t have the brains to complete the course and paid one of the few friends he had made to complete his assignments for him while he went out and partied for the 4 years of University.
In “celebration†for completing his University course Joseph decided to go to Sydney for New Years Eve. Borrowing his father’s yacht and taking almost half the supply of alcohol from his father’s holiday home on Darling Harbour Joseph got so drunk that he failed to remember he invited 15 prostitutes to his party he had met the previous day. As the fireworks began Joseph having finished his 6th bottle of vodka tripped and fell into the harbour and began to sink towards the bottom. Somewhere in his drunken haze Joseph thought he saw a huge amount of energy approach him and as it began to engulf him Joseph passed out.
It wasn’t until the next day Joseph realised he felt different; having woke up on Bondi Beach Joseph had little to no memory of the previous night. It was by pure accident that Joseph discovered his new found ability, a man attempted to steal his wallet on the beach and as Joseph tried to defend himself he was able to use the ocean itself as a weapon. Watching the fear in the man’s eyes as he ran away Joseph loved it and instead of being fearful of what he could do he embraced it. Using his hatred and anger as a trigger and his love of money as a purpose Joseph would make money by day and steal it by night. Over the short space of a few months Joseph became someone to be feared, becoming a hired mercenary for extremely high prices.

Kathryn’s memories after collapsing in front of the Sanctuary were vague. She remembered being picked up and taken inside but after that all there were was bits and pieces like puzzle that couldn’t be put back together. She heard sounds, saw flashes of light and once she even thought Helen was by her side but her in severely weakened state she just assumed it was a dream. After what seemed a while a sudden calm came over her body and all the pain that she had washed away allowing her to sleep properly for the first time in weeks.
She slowly retreated into her dreams remembering happier times in Praxis, and how she had overcome all odds to be accepted into the wider community. She had been an outsider when she had arrived but from early on she had been told her abilities were of significance and this was the reason she had been allowed to stay in the city. Her memories then floated further back to what she still considered her happiest time, Oxford. The history, the place, the time and of course the people two people she will never forget from her time at Oxford were Helen & Adam Worth both for very different reasons.
Kathryn had met Adam first; she had been on the campus for less than 2 hours when she made her way to some of the laboratories. She found Adam performing some gas experiments but just as he was about to add some hydrochloric acid to the fix Kathryn stopped him because had he continued he would have blown himself apart. A tiny part of her now wished she had let him. Adam remained grateful for Kathryn’s help & advice and in those early days became quite close. He would often travel half way across London in the middle of the night to ask her opinion on things even though she had no science training. Adam had always told her, It doesn’t matter you are smarter than half of those students put together you are brilliant
