Kathryn let her mind think back to meeting Gregory for the first time. She had just walked out of the parliament after trying to convince them Adam Worth was a danger but again she had been shot down. She had all but given up on the matter by that stage, she thought her voice meant nothing; she had sat on the steps of the parliament to think when Gregory had introduced himself. Immediately Kathryn recognised the last name, “Magnus unbelievable” she thought.
It was Gregory who had given her hope in a dark time, her early days in Praxis were far from memorable and she had got to a point where she wanted to leave. Gregory though had convinced her that her talents were needed much more in Praxis. He had taken her under his wing, teaching her about the Sanctuary and training her in medicine something she had so desperately wanted to do. Slowly over time Kathryn felt like she had a purpose in Praxis and Gregory had become the father she had so badly needed.
He had also been there when she needed someone. When the situation with Worth got to its worst, he was there to comfort her when the nightmares arrived. Oh how she missed his support, she thought. She snapped out of her thoughts when Helen spoke again. Of course she wanted to know where Gregory is, the man is her father after all, a man who could disappear at whim.
“Yes I knew him; he was my support in Praxis. I didn’t exactly make friends easily down there, many refused to talk to me because I was from the surface. Your father though didn’t care he helped me become who I am. A stronger and better person & I owe him everything for that. The last time I saw Gregory was in the middle of the panic from the explosion, he found me as I was running back after trying to help in a medical emergency. He gave me a bag and told me to take some old ventilation tunnels to the surface instead of following the others. When I asked him why he said, “It would keep you safe & that you would find Helen faster”. And he was right Helen, many died on their way to the surface, I was safe. I owe him my life”
Kathryn began to fidget in bed; even injured she was not one to stay in bed for long.
“Helen please can I do something? I going insane staying in bed”
