Declan Macrae started out on the wrong foot with Will and the other member's of Magnus's team during the Big Bertha incident. In the process of trying to protect Magnus politically and maintain an unbiased view, he came across as one of Magnus's enemies. This is as far from the truth as one could possibly get. Declan is completely loyal to Magnus, one of her closest allies. He has a subtle strength and exudes a quiet confidence that makes him a great friend, but when pressed, or his friends threatened, makes him a fierce enemy. In general, Declan is a genial man who enjoys just working at his Sanctuary and spending his free time with friends and coworkers when he isn't chasing after Abnormals.
history: Declan Macrae was born on November 4th, 1971 in Blackpool, England. He was part of the British military special operations before being recruited by James Watson and Helen Magnus.
4th of November 2000: Declan is recruited by James Watson from Black Ops to work at the Sanctuary
-He quickly rose through the ranks of the London Sanctuary
18th April 2009: He officially becomes James Watson's second in command
-for the past three or four years, Declan had unoffically been the second in command. Watson saw Declan's potential to be a strong leader
30 March 2009: Declan meets Magnus in person for the first time
A year later, Ashley Magnu was kidnapped by the Cabal and attacked the London Sanctuary with three others, targeting Declan. Magnus, Druitt, Tesla, Henry and Clara rallied to defend the Sanctuary network, at the cost of Clara Griffin's life. James Watson died recovering the Source blood, leaving Declan as acting head of the London Sanctuary until Magnus ratified him. After the loss of Ashley, Declan joined Magnus's team for a few months while she looked for a replacement, tracking down everything from man-eating reptiles to a super-hero wearing an Abnormal suit. During the Big Bertha incident, Declan tried to remain unbiased while the investigation was ongoing and came across as trying to get Magnus's job. Thankfully, the problem was solved, the bad "guy" was caught and Magnus was able to "clear" his name. He walked into his office and sighed when he saw the new stack of papers that had appeared on his desk, several of them flagged with red, yellow and orange notes. He could have sworn that those papers hadn't been on his desk an hour ago. On top of the stack was a note from his field officer, Robert Smithson, telling him to look at the red-flagged papers first. As Declan flipped to the specific file, he couldn't help but notice there were more red-flagged files than anything. Reaching the file, he read "The Abnormal in question has the ability to manipulate metallic elements using electromagnetic signals from his eyes. Abnormal subdued and in isolation, with two personnel injured while subduing the Abnormal. Both men are stable but in the infirmary until further notice." Along with the file came a note from Smithson, saying that he believed there was a tribe of these Abnormals in Ireland and he wouldn't be back until he was sure that they would not be a threat to the region.
As he finished reading, his computer beeped and a video chat window opened. It was Katherine D'Anna, his medical scientist. "What is it, Katherine?" "The two men who were injured by the EM Abnormal are stable, but it will be a few weeks before they're ready for field work again." "Thanks mate, keep me informed. I want to talk to them when they come around." With a nod, Katherine signed off, and he put his hands on the table and leaned on them for a moment.
Ever since the destruction of Hollow Earth and the mass exodus of the Abnormals living there, the Sanctuary networks were the only thing standing between humans, the governments of the world, and utter chaos. New species of Abnormals were cropping up everywhere, and while most of them just wanted to go home and rebuild, there were some who wanted to take the surface back from the "weakling humans," as he had been told by one of them. The encounter with the EM eyed Abnormal was just the tip of the iceberg. With another sigh, he sat down at his desk and grabbed the next red-flagged file. It was going to be long night.
MUST BE BASED ON YOUR CHARACTER, ESPECIALLY IF YOU PLAN ON PLAYING A CANON CHARACTER. If you ARE playing a canon, please make sure you have some dialogue in there so I am aware on not only your level of role-playing, but more-so how WELL you can play them. This is crucial to the site, and if you cannot grasp that character, then I may pass that character to someone else. I'm not overly strict about this, but I would rather take that character out of play, then have someone unable to do the character justice.
