Early this day on, Mara received a call from one of her contact in the black market of abnormals. Stanley. Not really someone you can trust with your life, but for some money and a few treats -some strange mushrooms coming from Africa- he proved himself usefull. He told her there was a rumor circulating from few days now. Some rogue military men found during one of their mission an animal, or what they thought it was. But the description they made of it couldn't leave any doubt. Magnus Ophidius. Really great snake which venom's have halluginogenic properties. She vould see why it was making such a big deal in the market. With the venom, you could create quite a mess. So she arranged a meeting two hours later, saying she'll met him at their usual spot, bringing some of those mushrooms he liked. She always wondered what those were for, but she knew she doesn't want to know the answer. Some things are better off that way.
She got out of her room, heading straight to Declan's office. He wasn't there at that time. She hesitated a few seconds. She knew going out there without anyone knowing where she was and what she was up to wans't a good idea. If she lost her phone, no one will comme to her rescue, in case all this goes wrong. She waited, around fifteen minutes before she took a pen from his desk and left him a note to let him know she was going out, explaining she would try to take the snake back from the sellers and be back soon. She would have Stanley's help to get in touch with the sellers, once there she could handle them easily. At least she thought so. Because what Stan didn't know was that the sellers where not so...inexperienced as they pretended to be. When she got to the market, half a dozen of men where there. She stood very little chance, but she quickly got an idea. A diversion. Simple, but efficient. She set off Stanley to "accidentally" set fire to the nearby tent and that done, as she predicted, the armed men went staight to the tent to stop the fire. One stood next to the cage of course. Big, huge guy. But a man. And there she had no need of her gun. She approched him, after she opened one or two buttons of her shirt off. Focusing on her breast instead of the cage lock, that was the idea. And it worked. For a few minutes. But once the fire was stopped, it got complicated. But she had managed in the meantime to open the lock. She looked around. Stanley was gone. Coward. She had to find a way to get out of here and if possible, in one piece. She took her gun and shot one of the men, the noise of the firing gun setting the snake out of his cage. While some of them started screaming, she saw there her chance to leave this place.
But of course, she was followed. One of the men, the boss she guessed, pretty pissed off after her, was close. She knew the area well. And knew there were fw options for her. But luckily, that guy was as huge as the one guarding the snake. Large. What she was about to do wasn't really enjoyable, but she knew she would be safe there. So she turned left in the next street, pulling out a sewer plate and began to enter the hole. She was about to get out of his reach when his arm catched her wrist. She aimed her gun to his ear, she shot him but not to hurt him, just to make him let go of her wrist. What he did immediately after seing her pulling the trigger of her SIG. But what she didin't think of by doing that was that she hadn't any grasp in the sewer hole. so she fell down, landing on her left arm. Her shoulder was dislodged. It hurt, but she had seen worse. She got up as she heard the man shouting to they others. Soon one of them would go in the sewer, she'd better have to be heading back to the Sanctuary then. Driving to it was pretty hard but finally she was back home. But even before she'd consider to go to the infirmary for her arm, she went to her room. She needed a shower, for at least get rid of that smell...
