General Personality
Aaron is basically the everyman. He tries to be a nice guy. He tries to help anybody and everybody. But years of being walked on, used and taken for granted is slowly taking its toil under the surface. He’s a good therapist, always able to help people talk through their problems. He understands other people’s emotions better than his own.
The death of Gina hit him very hard. She was his better half. She gave him confidence. She gave him somebody to talk to. She kept him sane. Her death caused him great pain, but he never showed it. He never mourned her. He never wept. Even when he learned that her death was a result of an abnormal spore, Aaron never reacted. Keeping it all repressed simply isn’t healthy. He’s a ticking time bomb.
Relationship with Characters
Aaron is a sucker for people, humans, abnormals, adults, children, pets. Bullseye may be a hassle, especially since he is the host to a chicken like parasite inside, but Aaron cares deeply for the dog. Bullseye and Dart should be a patient and not a pet, but the lines often get blurred with Aaron.
Aaron loathes the English accent. It reminds him of his honeymoon with Gina, of the Doctor they saw, shortly before her death. She died in London. Painful memories, but Aaron does his best to ignore the pain, and refuses to let it affect his social and working relationships. He even offers counsel to them, and does his very best to help, even though it personally hurts.
Will is a smart and young psychiatrist. Aaron is very wary, not just because Will reminds him of how old he is, but he’s worried that Will would try to psychoanalyze him. Aaron is clinging to his self-restrained and sanity by a thread. He is desperate to repress his issues. Keep them buried. Hopefully, Will will let him.
Aaron and Ingrid have a very easy relationship. Although it is professional, they have also developed a very congenial and friendly bond. Aaron would hesitate to call her a friend, (mostly because he no longer understands what it means to have a friend, even though he is a friend to everyone) but they do socialise outside of work.
It’s unclear when, but Aaron once did try to treat Adam for dissociative identity disorder. Through their discussions, Aaron found himself caring for the submissive personality. Aaron thought he was helping. Until the Hyde personality took over. Aaron is all too aware of how dangerous Hyde is, but he still feels guilt about being unable to save ‘Edward’. Adam has a freedom that Aaron envies, even though he refuses to acknowledge that.
The first thing that struck Aaron about Michael was the physical similarity to Gina. Aaron strives to look beyond the resemblance to the child. Aaron was unable to rescue Adam, but he damn well wants to save Michael. It would be so hard for Aaron to turn his back on Michael, he may even wish to take Michael back to New York with him.
Future Plots
The Doctor is In
Aaron is going to be at Old City for a while. It’s an opportunity to counsel Michael, Henry, and anybody else who needs it. If the therapy helps Michael, Aaron may be tempted to transfer Michael to New York, so they can continue the therapy back at Aaron’s home Sanctuary.
Fight Club
A cliché plot, but hopefully an interesting one. Aaron attends a Fight Club in New York. He’s been going there for about a year and a half. It’s just boxing. Nobody is being hurt, nobody who hasn’t agreed to it. That is until the Fight Club introduces an innocent and primal abnormal into the mix. Ingrid and Aaron eventually help the abnormal and shut down the cruel fight club. But with the Fight Club closed, Aaron is more of a ticking time bomb than ever.
Beware the Nice Ones
We have a lot of abnormal villains. Factions of abnormals killing off abnormals in an attempt to get a foothold on Earth. Just like another nice butler that has been corrupted to be an extremist in the show, Aaron is vulnerable to have his repressed pain and anger abused. It wouldn’t take much for him to snap, and become a human extremist who wants to get rid of ALL abnormals (with the exception of Michael). Aaron doesn’t have any special powers. He just has a lot of pain, has access to records of all the people hurt by abnormals, can gain people’s trust and he has leadership qualities that even he’s forgotten about. Aaron appears unthreatening, but he may just be the biggest threat to Sanctuary life of all.
General Notes:
I’m open to any SLs, especially before I go down the dark side. I hope nobody has any objections to Aaron turning into a Big Bad. He’s not really such a bad guy, but decades of repression can take its toll on a guy’s sanity. He’s a nice guy really, and he’ll be even friendlier and very penitent after his minor psychotic episode, should you all see fit to forgive him.
